Top 10 Questions
To ask before enrolling at a school

1. Do you have any graduates placed at top facilities in the area and do you have job placement assistance? Never take their word for it check it out, ask for references! (Keep in mind that student's private information is never given out but, you can ask to speak to owners who hire graduates!)

2. Who is the instructor? Are they active in the industry? What are their credentials? What is their educational level - do they have University Degrees? How long have they been teaching and at what levels? Are they involved with the industry? Are they active in setting standards?

3. Is the curriculum true to the Industry? Does it reflect what is needed to succeed in the current market place? Does it meet the NEW VA law? All schools in VA can & should be following the published regulations NOW so that graduates qualify for 2007 licensure!

4. Who developed the curriculum and is it updated and evaluated frequently? Most schools use publisher developed versus going the extra mile to ensure the curriculum developed by a Educational Expert in the Field.

5. What equipment do you have for the students to work with and do you have enough for the students? Is the Lab fully stocked with up to date equipment? Is the equipment brand name or knock off, illegally manufactured and illegally imported? Is the classroom separate from the lab?

6. Is the school promoting a product line? If you are learning about product line and not procedures, you will be at a disadvantage if your job does not use that line.

7. Is it an accredited school? Did the school's accrediting agency visit the school and do a onsite inspection?

8. Who are they governed to operate and licensed by? Are they legally offering the course and is it a real school?

9. Do they offer third party payment plans, live, distance and online options and flexible course schedules? What is their graduation rate? Are the students that enroll graduating?

10. Are they truly interested in your success and welcome you as a student? Do you feel comfortable with the learning environment? Does the school have the image you want to promote?
